Kentucky 2010 Legislative Session Action Alerts
Dear Friends and
Supporters:
The 2010 Kentucky Legislation Session has
convened. It is time that we send a strong
message to the forces of intolerance; collectively and
united, we can make 2010 a year of change
across our Commonwealth. You have an impact.
Year after year we watch the forces of
intolerance prevent us from
enjoying basic constitutional freedoms extended
to all people.
LGBTI people are singled out in Kentucky;
whether it was inspired by
religion, by tradition or by old-fashioned
bigotry we are effectively
second-class citizens. We are denied some of
the most basic
constitutional freedoms enjoyed by the
majority.
How long must we wait in Kentucky before we are
protected from
discrimination in housing, credit, and
accommodations? How long must we
wait before we have the right to visit our
partners if they are
hospitalized? How long must we wait for
marriage equality? How much
longer will we tolerate the federal government
going beyond their
constitutional powers such as the U.S. Defense
of Marriage Act (DOMA)? (story)
The time has come for genuine change in
Kentucky. YOU have an impact; it
is your government, and only you can give them
instructions! We have some
very important action alerts that need your
immediate attention!
2010 CRITICAL ACTION ALERTS:
(each alert will open in a
new window)

change if we work for it and demand it. You
have an impact.
We
also have an openly gay candidate, Matthew
Vanderpool (D-Lexington)
opposing conservative Stan Lee (R-Lexington).
Lee has filed countless
anti-gay legislation over the course of his
career in the Kentucky
House of Representative. Click here to read the
interview United We Stand - Kentucky's
LGBTI News
had with Matthew Vanderpool.

Continue to
report your discrimination
cases to us! Because we receive so
many, Kentucky Equality FederationTM has established a
new committee, the Discrimination
and School Bullying Committee to continue
to address the complaints you have been sending
us since 2005! We will be your
advocate!
